BURGHLEY Park’s U9 began their season with a promising display in a tricky away fixture at North Luffenham.
Having put Burghley in to bat the Luffenham bowlers started well in the first over but opening pair of Sam Hughes (5) and Archie Dickie Meadows (2) put on a great partnership of 19 from their four overs.
The home side then imposed themselves during the middle eight overs but Burghley batsmen Henry Brewster (6) and Tom Nicholls (2) gather a further 20 runs in the final four. At the turn around Burghley had posted 162 for the loss of just two wickets.
A tight opening spell limited Luffenham to just 8 runs from the first 4 overs with Teddy Crooke bowling a wicket maiden on debut.
Luffenham’s middle order then began to score freely and despite some excellent Burghley fielding Luffenham scored the winning runs and finished 184 for 3.
