Larsen leaves Oakham helm

OAKHAM Cricket Club captain Chris Larsen has called time on his four-year reign at the Lime Kilns helm.

The Australian wants to spend more time with his family after ending a successful era for the club which saw Larsen lead Oakham to the first-ever Rutland Kookaburra Twenty/20 triumph.

They also recorded back-to-back second place finishes in the South Lincs & Border League Division One and Larsen has many fond memories from his time in charge.

He said: "It has been an absolute privelige to captain the club.

"During my time we have gone a way to transforming the club.

"The senior teams have some real dynamism about them, our sponsorship has increased and we have been successful in bringing more money into the club.

"I do want to spend more time with my family though so I am taking a year out to recharge my batteries and will come back the following year as a player if the club needs me."

Larsen's final season at the helm saw Oakham secure a sixth place finish in Division One after a topsy-turvy campaign.

They produced an excellent finale to the season after hovering in the lower reaches of the table during the early stages.
