The derby between Oakham and Market Overton followed the form book with Marko recording their ninth win in ten Rutland League outings.
Marko lead division two and won by seven wickets to complete the double against Oakham and leave the Lime Kilns side rooted to the foot of the table.
Oakham batted first and scored 154-9 with Bhavin Sukla (51) and Jack Milner (37) the main run scorers in their 45 overs.
This was never enough against the leaders and Stuart Rose (64) and Olly Monks (53) ensured Marko reached their target of 155 for the loss of 3 wickets in only 26 overs. Rose hit 3 sixes and Monks 2 maximums as the hosts raced to victory.
Winning skipper Thwaites said: “We bowled in the right areas early doors.”
Stuart played very well and Olly has impressed with the way he has progressed, coming through from the seconds.
“I like to think he could be a regular number three. I’ll be down at number nine soon.”
Third-placed Uppingham won by 10 wickets on a hard, fast wicket at Market Deeping.
Uppingham put their hosts in to bat and openers Dan George (1 run) and Ryan Bainborough (14) struggled against hostile bowling from Max Collins (2 for 15) and Danny Dumford (1 for 20). At 15 overs Deeping had just 32 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.
Ben Collins (2 for 27) caused problems with his accurate spin bowling, but once again seam bowler Chris Howe took most wickets (4 for 34), removing the dangerous John McDougall for a duck, caught brilliant by Ben Collins at first slip.
Deeping closed on 102 runs and Jamie Dumford (48no) and Max Collins (47no) batted solidly to victory as Deeping used seven bowlers in 22 overs.
