A double victory at Silverstone last weekend has left Adam Key on the brink of the title with two rounds of the MGF series remaining.
Key, from Billingbrough, can clinch the title with a second place at either of the next two meetings - Cadwell Park in July and Oulton Park in August.
“Six out of the seven races count,” said Key, who works at Hall’s Garage at Morton and so far has taken four first places and second this season.
“The car went well at Silverstone,” he added. “The work we have done on the car has done wonders. I feel confident and it shows on the track.
“The weather helped on Sunday. It was very wet and that plays to my rally background.”
In addition to the first places on Saturday and Sunday, Key was also awarded a driver of the race award on Sunday when race commentators were impressed by his handling in slippery conditions.
