Racer Arnie Shelton narrowly missed out on a podium position at Brands Hatch in the opening round of the season on Sunday.
The Haconby racer finished fourth in class - seventh overall - on his first competitive outing for E3 Motorsport.
Sunday’s race was red-flagged on the third lap after several racers came off together and after the restart Shelton was just off the pace of the top trio.
“I had a half-decent start,” said Shelton who was clear of the pack throughout the 19 lap race. “I just could not hang onto the top few. It was a bit of a lonely, boring race.”
“I am a little disappointed that I did not get onto the front group. If I could have tagged on I could have matched them using their slipstream.
“But it was my best ever qualifying and there were 20 or 30 behind me so it could have been worse.”
Shelton and his team travel to Thruxton this weekend where the rider says top 10 would be pleasing on his debut at the circuit.
He added: “I am looking forward to the rounds at Oulton Park and Knockhill. These tracks suit me. The podium is within reach. It will come at some point.”
