STAMFORD’S Tania Bailey has won the London Open, her first WISPA tour title since her return from injury.
She secured the title after defeating Egyptian Farah Abdul Meguid 3-1 in the final on Sunday.
The new champion said: “It feels really nice to have a won a tournament again.
“This was the first time I have played four matches in a row for over a year now so I am really pleased to have got through them all.
“The final was really tough. I felt like she was reading what I was going to hit in the first two games so I had to straighten up my shots and hit a better length, so that I was able to get in front and disguise my shots more.”
Bailey, who has been hampered by injury over the last year, added: “It’s been so tough over the last 10 months to get myself in a position that I can play tournaments again. It’s a nice feeling to know all that hard work and effort was worth it.”
This weekend Bailey is due to play the BSPA Boston Open followed by the Manor Open in Derbyshire the weekend after.
