RUTLAND Water golfer Ben Stephens will make his national debut at the World Deaf Golf Championships in Japan, where he will represent England in October.

Ben will compete in the biggest deaf golf tournament in the world and hopes his experience of playing junior golf with Leicestershire, as well as taking part in British Universities golf tournaments will hold him in good stead.

Ben, who plays off five, is seeking sponsorship for the trip which he estimates will cost about £2,500.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Ben should e-mail info@englishdeafgolfassociation.com or visit www.justgiving.com/EnglishDeafGolf-Japan2012.

Ahead of the trip to Japan, Ben will be taking part in the English Deaf Golf National Championships at Luffenham Heath in June.
