YOUNG sailors from Rutland Water Sailing Club made the 800 mile round trip to compete in the second National Series Topper event in Largs, West Scotland recently.
The coastal waters provided perfect conditions on the first day with sailors racing at seas for six hours.
Ben Jennings, from Stamford, was the top U14 with his best ever result, finishing second in his opening race.The 13-year-old finished 17th overall in a fleet of 12-17-year-olds.
Rutland teammates Hannah Stowe, from Bourne, and Zak Morton, from Leciestershire, finished 87th and 93rd respectively.
The third round will be held at the Olympic venue in Weymouth in July, just before the week-long National School’s Sailing Regatta.
