Blackstones sides battle for the lead

Blackstones C hold a slender lead over rivals Blackstones D in the first division of the Stamford & District Bowls League after a 10-0 home defeat of fifth-placed Ketton Kestrels.

Both teams are on 114 points with Adam Warrington’s ‘C’ team holding the advantage of a 52 shots difference.

At the bottom, Market Deeping looked destined to return to Division Two trailing fellow strugglers Blackstones B by 11 points, with Colsterworth and Ryhall A not yet safe from the drop.

Oakham C hold a 32 points lead over Langtoft B in the second division with Ketton Kingfishers’ lead in the third division trimmed to just three points by an improving Empingham C.

- Ketton Bowls Club will host the prestigious Peterborough League Dan Duffy 4-rink Cup final between Parkway and West Ward Lions on Thursday, August 1 (6.15pm).

- Ketton Kestrels reached the final of the Boor Wainwright Cup when they defeated Barnack B in the Stamford League handicap competition.

They will meet Langtoft Pearl A on Saturday August 31 at Stamford Town BC

- Oakham hosted Market Overton on Thursday, gaining for a defeat at Marko earlier in the season.

Oakham won 138-54 with Gail Robertson’s team getting a Hot Shot of all eight shots on their rink.

Oakham defeated Leicester Banks by seven shots, winning 89-82 on Saturday.

Six rinks of triples were played and after 18 ends, the winning skips were Bob Hammond, Ivan Lang and Alan Jones.
