Bob Shaw and Mike Phipps won a closely-fought Overs 50s Pairs Trophy at Rutland Water last week.

The pair won with 16 fish for 38lb 7oz, less than 2lb ahead of their nearest rivals Keith Jones and Hilary Tomlinson who took 16 for 36lb 13oz. John Slavin and Al Owen were close behind in third with 14 for 36lb 8oz.

Rutland Water warden John Seaton presented the winners with their trophy.

John Slavin took the best fish of the match, a 4lb 2½oz rainbow.

Keith Jones of Glinton took the best fish of the week, a 7lb 6oz brown trout.

This fish was caught during the Tuesday Night Boat League and helped Keith to top spot on the night.

Results: Keith Jones, 2 fish for 11lb 1oz; 2ndWarren Landridge, 3 for 8lb 1oz; 3rd Richard Cooper, 3 for 7lb 12oz. Standings: 1st Richard Cooper 69 pts; 2nd Keith Jones (Wittering), 51 pts; 3rd Warren Landridge 45pts.

The best rainbow of the week weighed 5lb 1oz and fell to Chris McLeod, who was fishing for EFFA against a Scottish select team. The Scottish team came out on top with 68 fish for 164lb 2oz.
