Market Overton Bowls club hosted their second gala of the year on Sunday when 18 teams of four took part.

There was a close run final result with The Fiddlers, made up of Elizabeth and Martin Wallace and Sheila and Steve Brown from Greetham, the victors with 37 points.

The runners-up were This Time Maybe from Syston, comprising Peter Hancock, Kate Williams, Josie Hubbard and John Lester.

The gala was sponsored by Speccies and Kevin Baxter, director of the company, was on hand with president Gerry Barker to present the prizes.

Marj Hart was presented with vouchers as a thank you for the superb catering. Her volunteers were also thanked.

As ever, the gala was well organised by Mike Parkes, the greenkeeper, and he was helped on the day by Terry Smith, also greenkeeper.

Bowlers wishing to join the club next year should make a note in the diary that their next gala is on
July 13.
