Stamford RFC U12
STAMFORD U12s claimed a share of the county title after their toughest test of the season so far.
They headed to Market Rasen for the Lincolnshire leg of the Nottingham Lincolnshire Derbyshire championship as the reigning NLD champions and knew they would be prized scalp.
First Stamford brushed aside Kesteven with a 3-0 win thanks to tries from Jack Batty, Toby Anderson and Sebbie Davies.
But Sleaford proved a more stern test in the next game which ended in a stalemate with neither side scoring.
The Stamford boys then cut loose against Lincoln, running in six unanswered scores, the best coming from Ed Cox who scored a hat-trick. Other scorers were Will Dickinson, Will Stables and Harry Nightingale.
Stamford sealed their place in the final by beating Scunthorpe 4-0. Jack Batty, Charlie Thain, Will Dickinson and Sebbie Davies all scored while Stamford once again shut out the opposition.
Fellow finalists Spalding were the toughest opposition of the day and after hard early rugby, Stamford conceded a try and were forced to fight to keep in the game.
Their spark of inspiration came from stand-in fly-half Davies and his try led to a drawn match and share of the title.
