In the Stamford and Rutland Table Tennis League, Braunston ‘A’ sit at the top of Division 1 following a narrow defeat of Stamford School.
Carl Slevin proved the match winner, although the key match saw Martin Brunning come from two legs down to defeat Leigh Ware.
For the school, Rutwik Zapake hit top form to earn two points and he and Leigh also picked up the doubles point.

More teams have opened their account in Division 2, and Bourne ‘B’ head the way by virtue of a 7-3 win over club colleagues Bourne ‘C’. Stuart Wills and Chris Holland were each unbeaten in their first match of the season.
Two potential challengers for honours met at Stamford Free Church and the fixture was only decided at the final end of the doubles match.
Vic Hoffman picked up a brace for the hosts, but he was matched by Basil Bagshaw; however, they were both outdone by Braunston’s Paul Gibson who remained unbeaten in his singles.
In the key doubles encounter, Basil and Paul recovered from two legs to one down to win this point and the match.
