Anglers have enjoyed another excellent week on the boats at Rutland Water with plenty of fish and limits taken.
Season ticket holders Ken Merridan and former warden Paul Friend had an enjoyable day down the South Arm last week with a dozen fish averaging 3lb using a washing line set up, then switching to sparkler flies later on.
On the same day the best fish of the week was taken in the same area with season ticket holder Graham Pearson hooking a 6lb 1½oz Brown that fell to a stripped tube fly, on an intermediate line.
Richard Cooper from Stamford took the best Rainbow of the week during the Tuesday Night Boat League. This 4lb 10oz specimen was part of Richard’s winning total on the night of 8 Rainbows for 18lb 10oz.
Richard already had an unassailable league lead going into week 14. On the night itself Dave Knapp was a close second. The prize for best fish of the series is still up for grabs. Keith Jones is currently leading with a 5lb 8½oz Brown caught in week 9, ½oz ahead of the Rainbow taken by Paul Wild in week 5.
Best Brown 6lb 1½oz taken by Graham Pearson of Houghton on the Hill.
