Cycling: Tim races to second in county league

BOURNE Wheelers sent a good-sized team to race at Quibell Park, Scunthorpe, for the third round of the Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross League yesterday.

First up were the U16/14s and Tim James recorded his best result this season, taking a fine second place. Campbell Pollock was fourth, with Aaron Bateman coming home in a personnel best ninth. Dan Galpin took 11th with Adam Botteley 14th, Joe Collins showingd a big improvement for 19th, and Jamie Nation 21st.

Next up were the U12′s with only Alex Gammons representing Bourne. Despite suffering an early puncture, he soldiered on and finished 17th.

Finally it was the turn of Bourne’s senior/juniors quartet with Bart Kieres leading the team home in 18th.

Steve Collins, despite a heavy fall, came 42nd and Sian Botteley 51st (third lady). Mark Robinson suffered a mechanical problem which resulted in him having to pull out of the race.
