EXPECT fireworks when two Bourne boxers step into the ring at Holbeach tomorrow evening.
The Bourne club expects to take up to 50 supporters to cheer on Glen Spearink and Jack Bailey.
This will be the second competitive fight for Spearink, 21 and weighing in at 75kg, following an impressive win for the Bourne club last year. Fifteen-year-old Jack will be making his debut, weighing in at 64kg.
Head coach Paul South has worked hard with both fighters to ensure they are ready to compete and with the support of assistant coaches Gary Spearink and Jason Brooke the Bourne boxers hope to put on a show to rival any firework display.
Assistant coach Brooke said: “Club colours are blue and we expect it to be a case of light the touchpaper and stand well back.”
The club has proved to be very popular since its launch three years ago and Jason added: “We have a very diverse group of all ages, male and female, from a variety of backgrounds.
“Boxing is a great leveller and everyone who comes to the club has their own reason for wanting to learn the art.”
Bourne ABC holds training sessions at Harvey’s Universal Gym for all ages on Tuesday evenings from 7pm and on Saturday mornings from 9.30am. Coaching for adults also takes place on Thursdays from 7.30pm. Boxers of any level from complete beginner to experienced fighter are welcome.
The bouts at Holbeach Community Centre begin at 8pm (doors open at 6.30pm) with a limited number of tickets remaining. For more details call 07887 833 054 or 01406 423423.
