A DEEPING swimmer came home with eight gold medals from a competition in the Netherlands.
Fifteen swimmers from Deepings Swimming Club competed at the Netherlands Invitational Swimming Competition held in Eindhoven this month, against teams from The Netherlands, Germany, France, Romania, USA, Belgium and Italy.
The Deepings swimmers came home with a great set of results but star of the show was nine-year-old Angelina Freeman who competed in eight events and won eight gold medals.
Other medallists from the club were Lauren Wray, Marcus Cook, Shelby Culff, Zoe Fisher, Kallum Penman, Bailie Harrison and William Shaw, and all of the swimmers achieved personal best times.
Head Coach Lynn Chapman said: “This is the third time we have entered this competition and it has been the most successful so far. “I had a vision that we would be the best turned out team and due to the hard work of some parents seeking out sponsorship, my vision came true.”
Tracksuits were sponsored by Deepings Lions and shorts, T shirts, bags and hats were sponsored by a number of local companies.
During the competition there was a parade around the pool of all swimmers with their national flags and each country had their national anthem played.
