Most of this week’s Stamford and Rutland Table Tennis League action took place in Division 1 where Bourne B picked up their first win of the season.
The B team recovered from their 10-0 hammering at the bats of Eastfield with an impressive 8-2 win over their A team club-mates.
Brian Spittlehouse and Ray Tong enjoyed full-houses as Bourne A still search for their first win of the season.
The two MTTG clubs enjoyed close matches this week.
MTTG A travelled to Braunston and had to wait until the doubles encounter to be sure of victory.
A rare winless evening for Chris Weston increased the pressure on the visitors, but Dave Needham hit top form to remain unbeaten while Andy Goodacre won twice. Graham Cooper continued his fine early season performances with a brace of wins for the villagers.
Eastfield MTTG find themselves at the top of the league following a 6-4 win at Uffington CC A.
Miroslav Vala was again unbeaten for the Eastfield outfit, while Steve Williams picked up another vital couple of points. Greg Baxter replied with two for the cricketers, but it was not enough to prevent the defeat.
The only match in Division 2 to be completed was also close, but Nomads climb to third in the table following a 6-4 win over Tallington A.
Nick McDowell continues to play well and was the only unbeaten player on the night, while Andy Tod supported him with two wins of his own. Paul Ramm replied with two wins of his own, but, despite also winning the doubles with Richard Allen, the villagers fell to their second defeat of the season.
