WINTER League winners at Greetham Valley for 2011/12 are Ian Bain and Dave Morgan, who won the title on Sunday.
After five months, the seven game, round robin phase and quarter and semi-final knock-out games led to tense final, which Bain and Morgan took on the 16th, beating Mick Carnie and Jim Kearney 3 and 2.
After halving the first two holes on the Lakes course, first blood went to eventual runners-up Carnie and Kearney, when Carnie birdied the third to go one up.
However Bain and Morgan won the fourth and Morgan birdied the fifth after a fantastic iron shot onto the green to put them one up.
The pair then won the ninth to go two up after the front nine.
The back nine was nip-and-tuck with several halved holes before Bain and Morgan clinched victory on the 16th.
The newly-crowned champions were level gross after the front nine and one under gross after winning on the 16th.
l THE Winter Order of Merit for individual players enters its final round on Sunday with plenty still at stake after 21 weeks.
The penultimate round was played on the Lakes course last Sunday with Andrew Queen topping the leaderboard with a faultless 39 points at the end of play. In second, with 37, was Carl Causbrook with long-time leader Adrian Cunningham pushed back to third on countback.
Adam Clegg remains at the top of the order of merit heading into the final round but David Copley and Fraser Denholm remain in contention for the title. Second-placed Copley is less than 23 points behind Clegg and Denholm is only seven further behind.
Victory on Sunday would be enough for either player to snatch the title.
