Greetham Valley’s Winter Order of Merit threw up another first time winner this week with Carl Causbrook claiming top spot.
Causbrook, playing off nine, took the honours on the Lakes course with 36 points, earning him a two shot cut ahead of the next round.
Week 19 winner Causbrook jumps up nine places into the third spot on the overall leaderboard with 186 but no player has yet managed to win two rounds leaving the competition wide open with five rounds to play.
Paul Jenkinson is still in the lead going into the final five rounds but his advantage is just five points with Steve Anderson second on 206. With 50 points for a win and all the top ten within 50 points (and less than a 100 between first and 20th) a range of players will still fancy their chances including Trevor Smith, who was second on countback this week, in fourth and long-time leader Ian Copley who is on 179.
However, scores won’t be high for the remaining rounds as everybody in the top thirty have had at least one cut to their handicaps.
Steve Anderson was third in week 19 with 35 points edging Wayne Terrett into fourth on countback. Club president and winner of the first Order of Merit in 2010/11, Martin Boughton, was fifth with 34 points.
