RUTLAND Water Golf Club celebrated its 20th anniversary this month with men’s and ladies’ Stableford competitions.

Ben Stevens won the men’s competition with 35 points, just one ahead of the trio of Vinny Keef, John Clark and Chris Thomas who were second, third and fourth respectively on countback.

Jade Boggust cruised to victory in the ladies competition with 39 points, six ahead of second-placed Chris Illsley and 11 in front of Tracey Makey in third.

At the end of May, club owner Steve Maxey, club professional John Pengelly, and club captains joined members in the Grainstore Brewery Charity Texas Scramble, which raised £150 for Cancer Research UK.

Results: 1st Glenn Parkhill, Billy Rutter, Ernie McFarlane and Vincent O’Keefe; 2nd Trevor Childerly, Chris Newton, Richard Jennings and Graham Hollick.; 3rd Eammon O’Brien, Richard Knight, Tommy Burne and Mick Davis; 4th John Clark, John Tilley, Peter Boyd and David Dalglish.

The club, which began as a 9 hole, par 3 course, has expanded over the years with an 18-hole, 6,816 yard championship course opened in 2007.
