CLUB captain Malcolm Hird hit a perfect hole-in-one during the June Sunday Medal match at North Luffenham Golf Club.
Malcom’s shot was on the 183 yard par 3 12th hole using a 5 wood and contributed to a division one victory with a net 71 (off 18). He beat Gordon Knox (off 11) on countback. Bob Dixon finished third with net 73 (off 13).
In Division 2, the consistent Dave Wildman won with a net 70 (off 19), with Dave Purvis second with a net 75 (off 19) and Dave Flynn in third with 75 (off 24).
All the top trio recieved a handicap cut following the mid-week medal which Graham Ball won with an incredible net 60 (off 28) to earn a four stroke reduction in his handicap.
Second was Malcolm Hird with an impressive 65 which led to a one stroke cut on his handicap, and third was Stan Smith with 67 (off 26) and his handicap was cut by one stroke.
In the latest round of matches, the Gents team drew 3-3 with Rutland Water Golf Club.
Malcolm Hird and Alan Barwell lost 1 down to Bob Sachs and Robbie Pengelly; Stan Smith and Chris Lee won 6&5 against Bob Kerr and Brian Shelbourn; Dave Grieve and Graham Ball lost 3&2 to Pat Lewis Brown and Mat Clarke; Don Lambert and Dave Wildman won 5&3 against Roddy Laing and Chris James; Jim Ashworth and Roger Chong lost 2 down to Matt Bashford and Tim Brown; John Everitt and Alan Everitt won 3&2 against Paul Groner and Carl Williams.
The Gents then claimed a 4-2 victory against Greetham Valley’s C team.

The Seniors scored an impressive 5-1 victory against Stoke Albany.

In the Greenwood Trophy, which is a flag competition, Dave Wildman was the winner with an excellent 5 under par, finishing ahead of Dave Crooks.
