There were birdies and eagles galore during the Pheasant Cup, which doubled up as a charity fundraiser for Help for Heroes, at Stoke Rochford.
Ian Braime equalled the course record with a stunning gross 63 (-7). After a strong finish that had seen him birdie the par 4 15th hole, eagle the par 5 16th, and birdie the Par 3 17th, Ian needed to hole a 12 foot putt on the last hole for a 62 gross (-8) and the new course record. Unfortunately for him, his putt just missed.
However, his Stableford score of 43 was more than enough to see him take first place, with Glen Barlow finishing second with 41 and Michael Bailey third with 40.
The Golden Jubillee Trophy, newly presented this year to celebrate 50 years of Stoke Rochford Estates’ handing the management of the course to the club’s members, was won by club member David Esswood and his visiting partner.
The June Monthly Medal was a competitive affair with Ben Rawson (28 handicap) finishing in first place with a net 67. Charles Donnison was second, and Richard Skidmore just a shot further back in third place.
