A RIDER from Market Overton will showcase a new form of eventing at the Horse of the Year Show next week.
Jess Butler from Market Overton will be one of 15 international eventers to take part in the Express Eventing Final on Tuesday.
Express eventing squeezes the all disciplines of three-day eventing into a single day and Butler is relishing the opportunity of riding against internationally acclaimed eventers including former Badminton and Burghley winner Oliver Townend.
Butler said: “Express eventing not only helps to promote the traditional sport of eventing by being so spectator friendly but it is a great competition on its own. I hope it’s here for a long time and that I can continue to be involved.”
Jess progressed through ponies with success in showjumping and eventing before moving on to horses at 13 years old. Since her A-levels, she has been fortunate enough to ride and train with the Lawrence David Event Team and has now set up her own yard.
She added: “Express eventing has been an exciting experience that has really benefited my horses’ performances by allowing them to be exposed to all the aspects of eventing within a fantastic atmosphere.”
