KEITH Jones made it four in a row, winning the latest round of Rutland Water’s Tuesday Night Boat League.
Keith comfortably won week six with six fish weighing 15lb 9¾oz.
Seveteen anglers fished taking 24 fish on a night when it wasn’t easy to connect to the fish.
Results: 1st Keith Jones 6 fish for 15lb 9¾oz; 2nd Mick Bennett 3 fish for 7lb 3½oz; 3rd Phil Welbourne 3 fish for 6lb 4½oz.
The top four league placings are: 1st Keith Jones 60 points; 2nd Richard Cooper 31 points; 3rd Chris Evans 18 points; 4th Mick Bennett 13 points.
l RUTLAND Water has been in excellent form with bank and boat anglers recording bags of high quality fish.
The Army Angling Association fished recorded 11 eight fish limits last Saturday. The best bag was an impressive 19lb 10oz and one or two competitors achieved their limits within 2½-3 hours.
Bank anglers have had the best action along the shores of Normanton using nymphs and dry fly has worked well in the last hour of the day.
CHANGEABLE weather and some much-needed rain slightly hindered sport at the Welland Valley fishery this week.
Among the week’s most succesful catches were the eight rainbows (20lb 7oz on Cdc Emergers) taken by Neville Welsh of Leicester. His best rainbow weighted 4lb. He boat fished Mucky Bay along with Luke Key of Market Harborough who caught a beautiful rainbow that tipped the scales to 8lb 14oz. Other big fish included Ally Beech’s 5lb 1oz rainbow taken on a Red Holo Diawl bach from Sams Dyke, and an 8lb 1oz rainbow caught by John Eaton also caught on a Diawl bach.
