Rutland County’s Margaret Rippin enjoyed her autumn meeting, scoring 36 points to push Imogen Huxley into second by a single point.
Meg Tasker, Pat Wright and Karen Palmer all came in on 32 points to share third.
Imogen made up for any disappointment in that contest when she played the final of the Ladies Doubles Knockout. Teamed up with her mother, Suzanne, the Huxley pairing beat Carol Westcott and Meg Tasker 3&1.
The match was tightly contested but Imogen’s outstanding play secured the title.
Jean Kydd won the October Medal with a net 72, while Jean Drummond celebrated her return to the club by winning the 9-hole Stableford on 17 points, pipping Wendy Bryan on countback.
County’s B team suffered a 5½-½ defeat away at Spalding where skipper Dave Rippin and vice-captain Kev Moxham led the way with a 6&5 loss. Martyn Gatehouse and Pete Siciliano halved but Andy Vernon and Rod Goss lost 1 down, Eric Cooper and Bob Ambrose lost 5&4, Dave Waddell and Ollie Huxley lost 2&1, and Deggie Palmer and Gerry McIntyre lost 5&4.
However Dave Rippin was victorious when he led the Captain’s team to a 6-2 victory over Bridget Yardley’s Lady Captain’s team.
A strong field of 64 seniors contested the Monthly Stableford Competition. Ray Taylor won division one with 37 points and Mike Platt took division two with 38.
As a result of the match, Ray Taylor is the winner of the Order of Merit.
