Unsettled weather failed to stop anglers taking decent catches at Rutland Water last week.
The best recorded rainbow of the week was a personal best for Oakham’s Matt Gregory. Matt’s superb conditioned specimen weighed in at 6lb 9oz.
Meanwhile Jim Watts, of Ryhall, continued his great recent form with his fourth consecutive eight fish limit.
The week’s best brown was a 7lb 1oz fish caught by Mike Barrett of Sheffield.
Bank anglers are taking fish off the Peninsula and from Normanton with good average sized fish of more than 3lb. Dave Porter netting a 5lb 4oz rainbow.
Boat anglers have also taken a good number of fish with individual boats netting 10 fish last Tuesday.
Winter restrictions are now in place, with no boats allowed past the sailing limits, and the brown trout season ended last week.
Forthcoming events include boat fishing for pike, and Rutland Water’s Fur and Feather (bank) match on December 2. Call the lodge on 01780 686441 for details.
