Oakham’s Ian Moody claimed the biggest fish of the week at Rutland Water, weighing in a 7lb 4oz brown trout at the reservoir.
Ian caught the superb specimen using a subsurface fry pattern while bank fishing from the peninsula.
Fish are being taken in many areas of the reservoir with a broad variety of tactics proving successful from dries and nymphs to mini lures and gold or silver tube flies.
Anglers from all over Europe were competing at Rutland Water in the final of the Anglian Water Airflo International on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, while there is still time for local anglers to enter the Autumn Pairs competition which takes place on Saturday with a rudder and non-rudder section.
Oakham Angling Club were again at Decoy Lakes, Whittlesey on Sunday, fishing on Six Islands.
Peg 18 is one of the favourites at the lake and Dave Rowell took full advantage, weighing in 96lb 14oz of carp caught on pole fished pellet. Second place went to Chris Parsons on peg 1 who caught 86lb 11oz, alternating between maggot and paste on the feeder and the pole. Dave Thornton was third from peg 12 with 84lb 13oz, catching the majority of his fish on poled worm and caster.
