TWO of Rutland County Netball League’s original “Back to Netball’ teams met this week.

Ospreys were the first new team formed earlier this year with Jewells following soon after but Jewells hopes of a first win of the season in their final game of the season were denied.

Despite a gutsy performance from Jewells, and fairly even play on centre court, Ospreys were too strong, winning 31-5 largely thanks to impressive shooting from Vickie Bradley.

This result secured Ospreys third place with just the final round of matches - this week- to end the summer season.

Panthers took on Mercury in the second game last Thursday with Mercury forced to field five guest players due to injury and absence.

Panthers dominated in every quarter, comfortably winning 29-12 and taking Mercury out of the running for third place. They could drop to fifth if Panthers continue their winning form for a fourth week running.

l THE winter league, which begins in October, will feature at least 12 teams in two divisions and there is still time to sign up. For details see www.rcnl.co.uk or call Tina Sayers on 07841 592490.
