Oakham 105 Keyworth 114

OAKHAM’s Thursday Men’s team entertained Keyworth last week in their first game of a season uninterrupted by the weather.

They lost by nine shots despite winning on three rinks and tying on another. The winning skips were Chris Wallis, Ivan Lang and Barrie Payne, with Ron Smurthwaite skip on the tied rink.

Results: Bob Spence, Ray Gregory, Nigel Trigg and Chris Wallis won 25-17; Lin Walters, Rod Stanley, Rick Tarleton and Ivan Lang won 22-16; Vijay Dighe, John Moore, Bob Swarbrick and Barrie Payne won 19-18; Eddie Owen, Tony Flower, Gwyn Davies and Ron Smurthwaite drew 17-17; Brian Garner, Peter Gleeson, Norman Coville and Alan Jones lost 11-19; Roger Lancaster, Ken Jennings, Peter Ferry and Gail Robertson lost 11-27.

Oakham 90 St Margarets 59

HAVING the Sun on their backs for the first time this season, Oakham beat St Margarets by a magnificent 31 shots, winning on four of the five rinks.

Leading the charge was Ivan Lang’s quartet, who won by 22 shots. The other winning skips were Bob Hammond, Denis Smith and Ron Smurthwaite.

Results: Anne Preston-Bambridge, Mervyn Jones, Alan Jones and Ivan Lang won 26-4; Eddie Owen, Mike Hardy, Barrie Payne and Bob Hammond won 17-8; Michele Totaro, Derek Bury, Gwyn Davies and Denis Smith won 19-14; Lin Walters, Peter Gleeson, Gail Robertson and Ron Smurthwaite won 16-14; Nigel Trigg, Peter Ferry, Rick Tarleton and Chris Wallis lost 17-19.

Oakham 76 Leicester Banks 74

ANOTHER bright day and a second win for Oakham’s Sunday Team.

And again Ivan Lang and his team, were instrumental, winning by 15 shots while the other three rinks all lost.

Results: David Morgan, Kath Rowlands, Beryl Birch and Ivan Lang won 27-15; Pam Houlden, Brenda Lang, Ros Carter and Eddie Owen lost 20-22; Liz Pollard, Roger Rowlands, Maureen Walter andVal Crowder lost 17-21; Di Culshaw, Juliet Healy, Margaret Jeffries and Jenny Bateman lost 12-19.
