Oakham Bowling Club’s Thursday team came away from rivals Melton Town with an excellent 30 shot victory, winning 82-52.
The Oakham victory was due to big winning margins on three of the four rinks.
Winning skips were Jeff Turnbull, Chris Wallis and Bob Hammond.
Scores: Roger Lancaster, Ken Jennings, Gail Robertson and Jeff Turnbull won 28-9; Bob Swarbrick, David Morgan, Denis Smith and Chris Wallis won 23-8; Lyn Walters, John Moore, Barrie Payne and Bob Hammond won 20-11; David Thorn, Terry Thurman, Peter Ferry and Alan Jones lost 11-24.
Oakham’s Saturday team then returned from Holwell with a 94-74 victory after staging a remarkable recovery.
At the mid-match break after 13 ends, Oakham were trailing by six shots but they fought back to record a success by 20 shots.
The rink skipped by Chris Wallis were trailing 5-14 at the break but then scored 21 shots without reply to win by 12. The other winning rinks were skipped by Denis smith and Ivan Lang.
Scores: Lyn Walters, Mary Smith, Bob Hammond and Chris Wallis won 26-14; Chris smith, Peter Ferry, Bob Swarbrick and Denis Smith won 27-19; Ray Wilkins, Peter Gleeson, Eddie Owen and Ivan Lang won 24-21; Ray Gregory, Terry Thurman, Barrie Payne and Alan Jones lost 17-20.
Oakham Ladies mantained the club’s fine form with a 27 shot victory at home to Greetham, winning 83-56.
Winning on three of the four rinks, Ros Carter, Maureen Walters and Beryl Birch were the successful skips.
