Oakham School’s netballers are celebrating double success after its U19 and U14 teams both qualified for the national finals.
“This is an incredible achievement given how competitive netball is,” said director of sport Iain Simpson. “To have both teams qualify is extremely rare and is a testament to our investment in facilities and training for our squads.”
The U19s won their regional finals for the second time in three years to secure their place at the nationals, beating Trent, Bilborough, The Priory, Stamford and Nottingham High on the way.
The U14s beat Northampton High, Nottingham High, Repton and Queen Elizabeth Grammar and Kesteven School to reach the regional final, which they lost 7-6 to Repton. However they still qualified for the finals which were held at Basildon on Saturday.
Sarah Dunkley Hetty Gittus, Liv Stables Flora Hamilton Lily Foster-Collier, Lucy Scott, Amelia Wilson and Ashley Bird represented the U19s.
