OAKHAM hosted a touring Essex side and drew a splendid six-rink match 115-115.
Essex Vice-President’s Association visited on Monday and gave Oakham a competitive game, that ended a draw despite Oakham winning on four rinks.
Oakham’s star rink was skippered by Ivan Lang, winning by 10 shots. The other winning skippers were Alan Jones, Bob Hammond and Denis Smith.

Lin Walters, Rod Groombridge, Bob Swarbrick and Bob Hammond won 25-24; Les Wright, Brian Garner, Gwyn Davies and Denis Smith won 19-18; Roger Lancaster, Derek Bury, John Moore and Chris Wallis lost 14-18; Roger Hale, Peter Ferry, Nigel Trigg and Gail Robertson lost 11-21.
l OAKHAM’S Thursday team have extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches with a 95-84 victory against Belgrave.
The win was gained even though Oakham only won on two of the five rinks.
