The Eagles swooped to another league win, this time 26-7, in a physical local derby at Thorney.

Right from the kick off, Oundle, playing with the wind, were on the attack, and had good ball retention.

James Sheridan burst through the midfield and touched down for the opening try on 4 minutes, converted by Ross Murray.

Oundle went further ahead on 10 minutes with Ali Barnett showing pace to go round his opposite number and score in the corner. Ross was on target again.

Thorney then came at Oundle in a manner they maintained all game, big close runners as they worked their way up field, and Oundle defended well.

Ali Barnett added his second again on 22 minutes. His pace was too much for the defence as Oundle moved the ball, he rounded this effort under the posts giving Murray an easier conversion attempt.

The Oundle defence was the feature of the game with hard work from the whole pack,

Ali Barnett completed his hat-trick with a fine solo effort, bursting through three tackles and scoring to secure a bonus point.

Thorney breached the Oundle defence in the second half despite excellent defending, touching down after the 14th phases for the only score of the half.
