North Luffenham Golf Club have just announced the opening of a new driving range, with four bays with mats and bay dividers.
In the coming months, the club will be constructing a building to cover the driving bays in order to provide more protection for golfers during inclement weather.
For a small club like North Luffenham this is a major development.
Practice balls can be acquired from the machine using tokens purchased from the clubhouse. The prices for this are as follows: £1 for 25 balls, £1.50 for 50 balls and £6 for 250 balls.
In this month’s midweek medal, Jim Ashworth returned to winning ways coming out on top with a net 71 playing off 14.
Second place was decided on count back with Graham Dexter (20) edging out Chris Lee (23) both scoring net 72.
The Winter Orders of Merit are reaching a climax now, with Graham Ball leading the individual table, and Malcolm Hird the team table.
There are just two rounds to complete before the end of March.
