FIVE pupils represented Casterton Business and Enterprise College at the 2012 British Schools Judo Championships at Sheffield.

Joe Potter, Alex Cutforth, Emma Philip, and Callum and Meg Rowley all train with Vale Judo Club and the Rutland Schools Judo Academy and all performed well at Sheffield with Emma and Meg both returning with medals.

Joe, 14, competed in the 10/11 year age group at U60 kg and fought hard in an experienced group of competitors but finished just outside the medals.

Alex, 12, and Callum, 13, were competing against large groups in the Year 8/9, U52kg and U42kg categories, finishing outside the medals in 5th - an excellent achievement at national level.

Thirteen-year-old Emma claimed bronze, narrowly missing out on silver in a tough group of evenly matched players in the Year 8/9 U36kg competition.

But the pick of the group in terms of results was Megan. The 11-year-old won gold in the Year 6/7 U48kg category. She also fought against two girls from the year 6/7 U52kg category, beating both.
