A sailing enthusiast has been nominated for the nationwide Maritime Hero award, for services to his club.
Dick Richardson, from Belmesthorpe, has been head coxswain at Rutland Sailing Club for more than 15 years where he trains other coxswains and runs several boat safety courses.
He also represents the club at official events, rosters new recruits, helps novice sailors and represents the club at competitions.
The club nominated Mr Richards for the annual awards run by Wick-based Pulteney Distillery, makers of Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
The company asked sailing clubs around the country to nominate members who deserve recognition in three categories - service, bravery or sailing achievement.
As one of 30 runners-up Richard received a certificate and a bottle of Old Pulteney - known as the Maritime Malt - 12-year old Single Malt. He will now go forward to the finals of the competition where the winner will walk away with £2,000, a trophy and a bottle of the Old Pulteney 21-year-old Single Malt.
