SIXTEEN-year-old Peter Bell won Deeping St James Angling Club’s Exeter Trophy with an outstanding performance.
Peter claimed a new club match record for a five hour match in the process.
Fishing catmeat down the slope at Decoy’s Elm Lake Peter bagged a magnificent weight of 174lb 15oz with a brilliant display that impressed senior anglers. Second, with a superb 152lb 3oz bag, caught on maggot was Langtoft’s Stuart Redman.
The second biggest smile of the day came from Dawn Morley whose pellet caught 79lb 6oz to give her third place and a victory over partner Andy. She also had a justifiable sense of pride knowing that overall winner Peter was one of her students when she was coaching juniors at Spalding.
