Riders preparing for kick off of the new point-to-point season at Garthorpe

The much anticipated Garthorpe series Point-to-Point racing season opens on Sunday with the Cottesmore meeting.

A large entry of 157 riders has been taken for the seven races with a possibility of divisions on the day.

The first race starts at midday and the Cottesmore hounds will parade from 11.15am.

Punters will have the choice of the bookmakers or the Tote for betting purposes and The Grumpy Huntsman licenced bar will be open.

There will be a large selection of trade stands showcasing British made goods, refreshment stalls and children’s fun rides and amusements.

Garthorpe is situated on the B676, 6 miles east of Melton Mowbray.

For those with satellite navigation systems the postcode is LE14 2RS. Admission is £10 per person including the car park and children under 16 are free.
