RUGBY: College Boys lose key target match

Have your say

Corby 34 Stamford COB 7

THE College boys disappointed in a fixture that they had targeted weeks in advance.

They had anticipated a strong start from Corby but faced few problems in the opening 20 minutes and consolidated a good opening with a try from a well rehearsed line-out involving James Tindall and John Hickman, with the latter crossing to score and then convert.

However things got steadily worse from that point. Corby went on to score easy tries which resulted from missed tackles and College never really responded until the final move of the game when a forward’s try was disallowed, wrongly in COB’s view, by the referee.

The team fell short against the bottom side but there were still positives. Paul Wright made his debut in the front row, while Adam Ireland and Phil Young showed commitment, despite playing with injuries.
