Daventry 21 Stamford 31
STAMFORD took a young side to Daventry on Saturday and were rewarded with a ten point victory.
Early exchanges showed that both teams had the ability to capitalise on mistakes taking the score to 7-7 after just a few minutes. Stamford’s try came from the kick-off. The ball was tapped down to Angus Green who set the ball up well. Matthew Albinson then found Tom Lindley speeding through a gap who managed to offload to Harry Offer who scampered over for the try. Lindley converted.
Lindley and Offer made an impressive centre partnership going forward and in defence. Other outstanding performers where the back row of Ross Cutteridge, Tom Gulland and Jack Eifion Jones.
Stamford were smaller but also fitter which was the telling factor as Offer ran in another try accompanied by two from Lindley and one from mercurial scrum half Robbie Smith.
Stamford entertain Deeping in their final game of the season tomorrow. h
