OAKHAM School hosted the Small Schools National Lacrosse Final on Sunday with nine teams from across the country competing.
Oakham qualified as one of the Midlands teams but up against stiff competition, the four semi-finalists were Fettes, Claremont, Rendcomb and St James London .
Oakham began brilliantly against St Leonard’s only to lose 2-0 after some poor shooting.
Oakham bounced back to beat Abbots Hill 8-0 but the lost 5-1 to eventual winners Rendcomb and 3-1 to St James.
Oakham coach Kerry O’Shea said: “Sunday saw some of the best lacrosse Oakham has played all season. The team worked as a unit to provide tough competition against every team they faced.”
The final between Rendcomb and Claremont went all the way to triple overtime, Rendcomb scored the golden goal to win the tournament.
