SCHOOL SPORTS: Catmose triumph in varsity league

OAKHAM’S Catmose College has won the Melton and Rutland School Sport Varsity League.

More than 300 pupils competed in a variety of sports including football, netball, hockey and more during the 2011-12 academic year.

Oliver Teasel, team leader of sport at the school, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by the students and is an excellent reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment by those taking part.

“The college has made excellent school-club links this year and put a real emphasis on sports fixtures and after school training which has been very well received by the students.”

Catmose highlights include first place in all the following leagues: Year 8 football, year 10 netball, year 7 basketball, year 10 futsal, year and 7 and 9 hockey, year 7 rugby, and years 7, 8 and 9 rounders.
