After travelling to this game with the bare minimum 15 players, Fenland Barbarians struggled to keep their opponents at bay in the second half when an injury left them a player down.

They had been holding their own in the first half of this NLD fixture after a tough start.

Sleaford surged ahead with two converted breakaway tries making it 14-0 after 20 minutes.

Back came the Barbarians, though, as they dominated possession. Their efforts were rewarded with an excellent score by Harley Giulari, which went unconverted.

Fenland Barbarians had Sleaford on the back foot with some strong ruckling and a superb rolling maul which was held up just short of the line in one particular attack.

The teams turned around with Sleaford 14-5 to the good and their task became much easier early in the second half when Fenland suffered their injury problem.

Sleaford cashed in on having the extra man despite spirited tackling and commitment from their opponents, who also created scoring opportunities.

The final scoreline certainly flattered Sleaford.
