Stamford’s newest boxers record debut victories

Two new members of Stamford ABC enjoyed wining bouts in their outings for the club.

Alfred and Ely Smith joined the club three months ago after the closure of clubs in Peterbrough and have settled well at their new club.

Alfred fought C Annetts from Red Corner Boxing Club in Coventry in a thrilling bout. Both were forward boxers and matched each other punch for punch but Alfred proved to be the fitter and more stronger of the two and was able to keep his combinations flowing until the end.

The judges gave him a unanimous victory.

Clubmate Ely fought A Sharp from Hoddesdon ABC had to pull out all the stops and was unfazed by Sharp’s combinations of long and short range punches. The Stamford fighter stepped up his work rate and proved far too strong for his opponent, bringing home another win for Stamford ABC.

Head coach Rick Green said: “It is great for the club and great for Stamford that these boys and other boxers within the gym are so committed. They deserve the winning results.”
