DEEPING St James Angling Club members decided that the best cure for a New Years Day hangover was to fish a sweepstake match on the River Glen at West Pinchbeck.

And it turned out to be a superb decision as they had a good turnout and some good weights throughout.

Winner on the day from peg 3, near the landing stage, was Andy Wilson (DSJAC) with 7lb 9oz which included a 2lb perch on chopped worm.

Andy caught from the start alternating between chopped worm and pinkie on the hook.

Second, with 6lb 12oz of small fish, was Stuart Redman (Sensas) on his favoured whip and pinkie approach.Third was Graham Foster (Tongue End AC) with 6lb 5oz of small fish caught on the pole with maggot over groundbait.

Next week’s match is back on the River Glen and will be the third round of the Deepings Individual League Series. The draw is at 9am on the bank near the landing stage.
