FIGHTING off the effects of flu, Oakham racer Ryan Henry, showed his experience on a flat, windy mountain bike course at Kilworth Springs in the Friday Night Summer Series.

Riding for www.gorunandride.co.uk, Ryan stayed with the lead group for the initial laps and only forced the pace higher in the later stages to eliminate riders. He then attacked 400m from the finish, to race clear of Nigel Scott in second spot.

Rutland Velo Club’s Amelia Cambridge lost out in a thrilling sprint to finish second behind improving Numplumz.com rider Vicenza Perkins. Ryan’s sister, Fern Henry, riding for the Kingston Specialized Concept Store, finished fifth.

Ryan couldn’t match his efforts from Fridays when racing to sixth in Sunday’s final round of the Eastern MTB series at Ikworth House near Bury St Edmonds.

Fern won the fourth round of the National Points Series at Kirroughtree, Scotland and now leads the series.
