A pupil at Leighfield Primary School has become the only nine-year-old in the world to be backed by the sponsors of Andy Murray and Novak Djokavic.

Jobim Ffrench, from Tugby, first played tennis at the age of five and is already ranked in the top ten nationally for his age.

Talent spotted by the Lawn Tennis Association for fast-track coaching at six, he has now received the support of racket manufacturers Head after they spotted a clip of him online.

“I put a video on You Tube,” said Jobim who admires the style of Serbia’s Djokavic most of all.

He said: “I have already done a couple of national tours and did well. I finished eighth on the tour.”

His father, Alexis said: “He will be part of Team Head - an international group of young players. They see him as one for the future. He has great hand-eye co-ordination.”

The youngster is a member of the Nottingham Performance Academy and trains every day.
