STAMFORD Tennis Club organised a mini challenge session for future Andy Murrays.
Many of the parents helped with throwing, scoring and umpiring matches.
The children were divided into three groups.
The youngest, mostly the four to five-year-olds were with coach Will Rowley and they were doing mostly co-ordination, simple hitting and rallying challenges.
Top scorer in this group was Eddie Anderson who beat runner up Ewan Gordon by just one point (65-64).
The intermediate group, ages five to seven, were with coach Nick Crowson and they were tested on their shot-making skills such as forehand, backhand, serve and volley.
Scott Merriman was the clear winner in this group scoring 102 points, well ahead of second place Harry Anderson, who finished with a battling 71 points.
The final group, six plus, were with coach Carole Wilson and they played a round robin tournament, matches being umpired by parents and one big brother.
Ella Chandler and Jacob Sinfield both won all their matches, Jacob finishing as champion, winning two more points overall than Ella.
All the players were presented with certificates, a lucky dip tennis ball and a small bar of chocolate as a reward for their efforts. Good fun was had by all!
Coaching continues at the club through the summer holidays with courses between August 13-16.
