EUROPE’S top cyclo-cross riders will be tested by a tough 2.8km course at Rutland Water on Sunday.
The Rutland County International CiCLE Classic Cross is the final round of the British Cycling National Trophy Series for the 2010/2011 series and British racers will be competing for a place in the national squad due to travel to Germany at the end of this month.
Race director Colin Clews said: “Last year Rob Peeters, fresh from fourth place in the Belgian championships, headed the bill and showed a clean pair of wheels in the main event.
“The expectation is once again that several riders of similar stature will make the final line-up at Whitwell.”
The main international Elite event starts at 2.30pm following veteran men’s and women’s races, junior men’s and women’s races, youth and U12 races earlier in the day.
In the British Elite and U23 categories, the difference between the league leaders remains extremely tight, promising competitive and tight racing on Sunday.
